Streamer is a peer-to-peer Internet radio. It works by having some listeners who are downloading the audio stream from
the Server then upload it to other listeners, who in turn upload it to even
more listeners, forming a branching tree...same technique like any other
peer to peer......yes it does mean you can start your own internet radio for
free!
The broadcasting server only sends the stream to a few of them, instead of
sending it to every one individually, as happens in conventional
client-server systems.
New listeners tag on the the outside edge of the tree, and because each one
provides new upload capacity to the network there is no limit to their
number.
They also move around in the tree according to their upload Bandwidth and
listening time, and as others leave and join the network.
High bandwidth and long-stay listeners tend to move closer to the broadcast
server (closer = less hops)
This all means you don't need an internet connection with a lot of bandwidth
to broadcast to a huge number of listeners.
A low bandwidth modem connection can work just fine.
Higher bandwidth connections naturally increase the quality of the audio
that is possible.
It's almost-free broadcasting, for just the cost of a NET connection.
It has a built in chat system, with a lobby channel, some other system
channels, and a chat channel for each station, so you can chat with the DJ.
It uses a gnutella-like mesh to distribute the messages.
It also has an embedded web site for each station which streams alongside
the audio.
This can contain most html tags, images, banners, links etc.
Add playlists, a web cam, ad banners, whatever you can think of.
(currently though only the index.html is streamed, the other files must be
on a Web Server).
It is a small 350k download, for both listening and broadcasting.
It has no spyware or similar crud, won't put commercials (yuk!) in your
stream, make you sign up, ask for money, show plop-ups, etc.
Streamer is still a beta (beta = Can contain bugs) but then again, how many
software titles that you know of are completely 100% bug free? Check for
updates about once a month.

A Trojan horse has been discovered in Google Pages, a Web site hosting
service offered by the search giant.
An attacker apparently uploaded a malicious file to a Googlepages.com Server,
part of a service that allows people to create their own Web pages, said Dan
Hubbard, the senior director of security research at Websense Security Labs.
The Trojan could lie dormant on a user's system until the individual logs on to
a banking Web site and then attempt to steal his or her personal information by
capturing their keystrokes, according to a security alert released Friday by
Websense.
Although the security monitoring company has detected the presence of the Trojan
horse on Google Pages, it has not yet received any reports of bogus e-mails or
instant messages that attempt to lure users to click on malicious links or
download dangerous files.
This is not a high-level, zero-day type of threat, Hubbard said.
But when you have this big of (an Internet site) name involved, security
researchers tend to look at it.
Google said it is moving as quickly as possible to deal with the problem.
Google Page Creator enables users to upload and serve files on their Web site.
We understand some users are hosting and serving malicious files, and we are
removing these Web pages when notified,a Google spokeswoman said in an E-Mail.
We are working on a more permanent solution to guard against these malicious
efforts.
However, we encourage users to continue to notify us when they encounter sites
that Host or serve malicious files.
Last week, Google's social-networking site, Orkut, was hit with a new worm.
That worm, MW.Orc, also sought to steal online banking information from computer
users.

As i found out the BBtoNuke 2.0.21 has a weird smilies bug.
All i know is that the problem is with the admin_smilies.php
It doesnt show the smilies in the smilies admin nor does it shows a smilies.pak
file if you want to put in some new smilies.
But it did worked again after i uploaded an older version of the 2.0.21 (think
it was 2.0.17....but not sure)
But there doesnt seem to be any importance in solving this... As found by kenwood you could fix it with this:
#
#-----[ OPEN ]---------------------------------------------
#
admin/admin_smilies.php
#
#-----[ FIND ]---------------------------------------------
# Line 50
$phpbb_root_path = "./../";
require($phpbb_root_path . 'extension.inc');
#
#-----[ AFTER, ADD ]---------------------------------------------
#
$cancel = ( isset($HTTP_POST_VARS['cancel']) ) ? true : false;
$no_page_header = $cancel;
#
#-----[ FIND ]---------------------------------------------
# Line 55
require('./pagestart.' . $phpEx);
#
#-----[ AFTER, ADD ]---------------------------------------------
#
if ($cancel)
{
redirect('admin/' . append_sid("admin_smilies.$phpEx", true));
}
