To my mind, the ability of a user to go back and edit his/her forum post days , weeks or even months later is a weakness in the fundamental design of the forum that is crying out to be exploited which, is exactly what happens with phpBB.
If you look at most of the *good* forum scripts they allow a user to edit a post for xx number of minutes after they post, then the editing facility is lost except for board moderators or admins.
